      Half Ours has been Santa Claus to Clear Creek Stud, delivering four new stakes winners for the holidays. Of Half Ours' five new 2015 stakes winners, four arrived in December. New Year's Eve at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, his juvenile offspring won both Louisiana Futurity races. Smittys Cougar trounced her rivals by 9 3/4 lengths in the filly division an hour before Half Cajun took the male counterpart by 4 1/2.

      Earlier in the month the pride of Clear Creek scored another Fair Grounds stakes double: On Louisiana Champions Day his 4-year-old daughter Platinum Lady won the Ladies Sprint Stakes and 3-year old son Jockamo's Song took the Sprint Stakes.

      Half Ours, a gray 14 year-old son of Unbridled's Song—Zing, by Storm Cat, has sired 12 stakes winners. Since first appearing on the Louisiana sire list in 2011 at No. 26, he has risen steadily to rank among the top 10 every year. In 2015 he was Louisiana's leading sire with $3,013,717 in earnings and six stakes winners

      HLAF CAJAN, a  Stacey Moak  homebred,  went wire to wire in his debut. The gray went right to the lead again in the Louisiana Futurity, led throughout and finished up under a hand ride to win by almost 5 lengths and remain undefeated. 

      SMITTY'S COUGAR followed suit in the filly division, wiring the field and drawing off by almost 10 lengths. She is a hombred for Roger Guy Smith.

Half Ours progeny earnings for the year currently stands at $2,787,973. His Louisiana bred foals have earned $1,716,852 which places him in a comfortable lead in that category also.

      2 stakes winners and a 2 year old winning first out

      PLATINUM LADY was game in earning her first stakes in the Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Sprint. She overcame a bad break and a wide trip to put her nose on the wire for the win. She is a homebred for Valene Farms LLC and has banked over $171,000.

      In the Louisiana Champions Day Sprint S, three year old JOKAMO'S SONG also earned his first black type. He jumped straight up from breaking his maiden and decided he liked the winner's circle enough to visit again. He took an outside route, but prevailed. He is owned by Dare to Dream Stable LLC an was bred by Debbie Allen & David Allen.

      To cap it off, 2 year old colt RIVER ROAD won first out for his owner/trainer Howard Alonzo and co-owner  P T Thoroughbreds. He was bred by Jason Hall.

      At the Fair Grounds, Reina de Aprisa decided she liked the winner's cirlce and made it back to back wins - this time wiring the fireld in allowance company. She had graduated last out in a MSW going 6 furlongs with an easy 3 + length win. She is owned by Valene Farms, was bred by Stanley Seelig and is trained by Eric Heitzmann.

      Also at the Fair Grounds Rock N Sake did the same thing. He broke his maiden in a MSW at Delta Downs last out, and running back at the Fair Grounds, he wanted to check out that winner's circle too - making it back to back wins. He started inside, swung out and cleared to win by 2 lengths. He is owned by Larry J. Romero, trained by Ron Faucheux and was bred by Tom Curtis & Wayne Simpson

      We suggested watching two year old filly Smittys Cougar after she broke her maiden by over 13 lengths at Delta Downs. We were right, she ran back in allowance company at the Fair Grounds and again wired the field for the win. She is a homebred for Roger Guy Smith and has bankrolled $49,850 in her three lifetime starts. 

      On the same day at Delta,  three year old filly Pink Awareness won for Red Rose Racing.

    • Partly Mocha wins an allowance race at Churchill

      Partly Mocha was claimed by trainer Mike Maker two races back for $25,000. The six year old races now for the Ramseys. He was an excellent claim having had a second and now a win in allowance company since his claim. He is a specialist at sprinting on the turf and has earned $293,322 with a lifetime record of 28-6-6-4.
