      SW MELALEUCA won the Brandywine Stakes last year at Indiana Grand. The 7 year old mare still seems to prefer the Indiana Grand turf and won there again today - her 5th  win lifetime - going of the favorite and wiring the field.       Half Ours son, Jack Snipe’s, scored his second stakes win on Saturday at Louisiana Downs when he captured the A.L. “Red” Erwin Memorial Stakes. Coming from a far back position early in the race, jockey Jansen Melancon had Jack Snipe’s close with a rush in the final sixteenth of a mile to win by a length while getting the one mile distance in 1:35:75. Owned by Jeff Drown and Gary Scherer, Jack Snipe’s is trained by Gary Scherer. The $45,000 to the winner has increased his earnings to $204,690 from just nine starts with three wins including the Louisiana Futurity last December and four stakes placings. Jack Snipe’s is the second stakes winner produced by his dam, Rhodelia, who previously produced the Grade III stakes winner Jet Black Magic and is now deceased.

      Today was a great ending to the Louisiana Downs meet for HALF OURS. JACK SNIPE'S  came wide from behind to clear the field and win the A L (red) Erwin S going a mile of the turf.  Last year it was also won by a son of HALF OURS - ROCK N SAKE. JACK SNIPE'S is trained and co-owned by Gary M. Scherer. His other owner is Jeff Drown. He was bred by Clear Creek Stud LLC. He has earned over $204,000 for his connections.

      In Texas at Retama, 2 year old VAPOR VAPOR broke his maiden by a head going 7 1/2 on the turf. He was also bred by Clear Creek Stud LLC. His owner is Susan Moulton and he is trained by Brandon Jenkins,

      Earlier on the card in the River Cities S, 4 year old filly SMILEY BRILEY also ran second for owner J J Thoroughbreds trainer A Cates and breeder Michelle LaVoice. She ran 1 1/16 on the turf.

      JOCKAMO'S SONG won his second stakes in a row taking the Louisiana Cup Sprint S at Louisiana Downs. He won the Louisiana Legends Sprint Stakes last out for owner Dare To Dream Stable LLC (Michael Faber) and trainer Michael Stidham. The venerable 5 year old gelding has a amazing record of 19 8-3-2 and has bankrolled almost $350,000. His breeders Debbie Allen & David Allen are proud of him too!

      In the Louisiana Distaff, multiple stakes placed Brittlyn Stables campaigner 5 year old mare Safari Calamari ended up second increasing her earnings to $188,780. She is trained by Ron Faucheux. Right behind her was recent Ellis Park Turf Stakes winner INVENIAM VIAM who clipped heels and almost went down, but still recovered to be third. The 5 year old mare has earned half a million dollars for her connections breeder Paul E Mullen, owner Allied Racing Stable LLC  and trainer Brad Cox.

      Multiple Stakes Winner PARTLY MOCHA came from far back in an AOC at Saratoga and timed it to perfection, winning by a head sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf. This time his closing style worked perfectly with the help of jockey Jose Ortiz.   He was a wise claim for the Ramseys and Mike Maker last year at Saratoga.       In Kentucky at Ellis Park, 5 year old mare INVENIAM VIAM who has already visited the winner's circle 8 times, made her 9th win count as she won the Ellis Park Turf S and became a stakes winner!   There is seemingly NO stopping her. She tracked and then fanned wide and dove past rivals for the victory. INVENIAM VIAM is owned by Allied Racing Stable, LLC trained by Brad H. Cox and was bred by Paul E. Mullen. She has earned $247,959. She was foaled raised and started  by Clear Creek Stud.

      Closer to home, 5 year old JOCKAMO'S SONG added another stakes win to his illustrious racing career.       MSW PARTLY MOCHA missed by a head  sprinting in the Bob Umphrey Turf Sprint Stakes at Gulfstream. He came wide but ran out of track. He had the same thing happen in the Mighty Beau Overnight Stakes last mornth and the Claiming Crown stakes on opening day at Gulfstream. The  8 year old gelding turned the tables winning the Bucharest Turf Sprint S at Sam Houston and the Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint Stakes also at Sam Houston.  He is owned by the Ramseys and is trained by Michael J.       Louisiana bred OKHOTSK is far from home, the $190,000 2014 OBS March Sale graduate is running and winning in Japan. He broke his maiden as a 2 year old in Tokyo for trainer T. Tezuka and has been winning and finishing on the board regularly since then. Most recently he was 3rd in allowance company in the Hiyoshi Tokubetsu in Tokyo. OKHOTSK is owned by Yukio Baba.       MSW JOCKOMO'S SONG closed out 2016 sprinting to score in a 4 x Allowance race for owner Dare to Dream Stable LLC. He had a bit of a break but came back swinging to win his first start this year in an AOC and now won 6 races and bankrolled $243,864.

      Additionally 5 year old mare KATIE B'S WAGER won her 4th and has earned over $100,000 for Dos Locos Tejanos Racing. Both horses were sprinting on the turf at the Fair Grounds

      It took him a few tries but when the time came to graduate, OUR WILD DANCER took off like a shot and wired the field to win under wraps by over 7 lengths, He is owned and was bred by Bill and Denise Morrison and is trained by Albert M. Stall, Jr..OUR WILD DANCER has already earned over $68,000

      PARTLY MOCHA missed by a head recently in one of the Claiming Crown stakes on opening day at Gulfstream. The stakes placed 8 year old gelding turned the tables again today in the Bucharest Turf Sprint S  at Sam Houston. He rallied after a bobble on the turn and drove to the wire to win by a head. Last out he won the Frontier Utilities Turf Sprint Stakes He is owned by the Ramseys and is trained by Michael J. Maker. He was a wise claim for his new connections last year at Saratoga. PARTLY MOCHA has earned over $445,39 and is wonderfully consistent with a record of 35: 8 8 7.

      HALF A MILLION, now 4, broke her maiden in December and stepped up into allowance company to nail it in her second try at that level. She sprinted right to the lead at Delta Downs, and never looked back. The gray filly is owned by Anne Lore Scardino and trained by  John Rannie Ladner.

      Meanwhile at the Fair Grounds, 5 year old mare, INVENIAM VIAM, off the heavy favorite, garnered her 6th win, She has earned over $164.000 for her owner Allied Racing Stable, LLC. INVENIAM VIAM raced wide and swung wider to get clear sailing and hit the wire 6 lengths to the good. She is trained by Brad H. Cox.

      FIVE WEEKEND WINNERS FOR HALF OURS: WHEELS OF STEEL at Sunland Park, ALAINA`S HALF OURS, DAY O, BOWKNOT BILLY and SOULJA SLIM all  at the Fair Grounds.SOULJA SLIM overcame all sorts of trouble to graduate in a MSW for owner/trainer Louie Roussel III. He was bumped hard while moving to clear the field, had to alter course even wider but managed to tough out a win by a head.

    • DOUBLE OURS by HALF OURS wins at Oaklawn

      Stakes placed Double Ours  is now owned by  Rick and Clayton West and trained by Robertino Diodoro, Double Ours  pressed the pace in an AOC at Oaklawn, then cleared the field and held for the win going 6 furlongs. He is approaching a quater of a million dollars in earnings  His breeders were  Oliver B. Brooks Jr., Joseph Barbazon & Helen Barbazon. 

    • GENTLEMENS HALF determinedly breaks his maiden in a MSW

      GENTLEMENS HALF ran third first out almost a year ago. The patience and time off served him well and he won with determination today in his second lifetime start. He had heavy opposition and was engaged in a duel with one or more horses throughout the 6 1/2 furlong MSW. He prevailed in the stretch and inched clear to win by 1  1/4 lengths. He is owned by Wayne T. Davis, trained by  Shane Wilson and was bred by: William E. Simmons III.

    • Good day for Half Ours

      Already stakes placed, Our Millie added more black type running second in the Azalea S going 7 furlongs at Delta Downs. She dueled from the start, ended up 7 wide in the stretch, but held the place. It is thought that she drifting wide cost her the win. She startled from glare from an infield body of water. Our Millie is trained by  Joseph M. Foster,owned by Marble Stables and bred by Barbara V. Rowell. Last out she was second in the Louisiana Champions Day Lassie Stakes. Watch for her next out!

      To cap off the day for Half Ours, CALJADA broke his maiden also at Delta  for owner/breeder James A Boyd.
