      4 year old filly CUSTOM PAINT JOB,  a Valene Farm homebred, has been knocking on the door, but today got the job done winning at Lousiana Downs racing 6 1/2 on the dirt, She had to fight and duel for the win but in the end drew off by 4 1/2 lengths. Her trainer is Sturges J Ducoing. CUSTOM PAINT JOB is a very well connected filly out of Isle of Grey (MSP, $140,888),  and a 1/2 to Sammie Sam (Autocracy), MSW, $370,162; Platinum Lady (Half Ours), SW, $171,102; and Katlin's Rocket (Autocracy), SW, $127,400.

      HIGH HEELED added her third win - this one shortened up to 6 furlongs on the dirt in allowance company at Mountaineer. She chased inside, came out and then dueled hard between horses for the win. She did not hit the board last out but the race before that she won quite easily going 7 furlongs on the turf.  HIGH HEELED is owned by Michael J Annechino and is trained by Jay Bernardini. She was bred by Lynne Boutte & Thomas Hopkins.

    • CUSTOM FOR CARLOS UPDATE
      09/03/2017

      Virginia Lazenby Racing Stable's son of Custom For Carlos, Ready Prospector, improved his record to two wins from three starts with his victory Saturday night in the Evangeline Downs Prince Stakes. Making his first start since capturing the D.S. "Shine" Young Futurity in July, Ready Prospector once again assumed the lead shortly after the start and widened that advantage in the stretch to win the six furlong event by two and one half lengths while never being seriously threatened and stopping the clock at 1:11:41. Ready Prospector is bred by Virginia Lazenby, trained by Oscar Modica and has now earned $80,200.

      Also on the closing night card at Evangeline Downs was a first time starter by Custom For Carlos named Exigent who won the Maiden Special Weight race by a comfortable five and one half lengths while getting the seven furlong distance in 1:26:68. Exigent is a homebred racing for William T. Reed and trained by Bret Calhoun. Exigent gives Custom For Carlos eight two-year-old winners from fourteen starters this year.

      2 yo EXIGENT was slow out of the gate but made up for that quickly, dueling and then taking command even when floated wide by a rival to win a MSW at Evangeline Downs by  5  1/2 lengths in this first start. He is a homebred for William T. Reed and is trained by  W. Bret Calhoun. Watch for this guy, he lived up to his name overcame several problem scenarios in his first start.

      MADE TO FIT took his time early but came wide when it counted and got his nose on the wire to take his win by a head in an allowance race at Presque Isle Downs. IHe raced 6 1/2 furlongs on the all weather surface. t was his second win in a row and his second win in the month of August. The 3 year old gelding is owned by Jean Rice and is trained by Kevin Rice. He was bred by Terry Gabriel & Lisa Meaux. He has earned $93,300.

      Going 6 1/2 on the Saratoga dirt, MONTE MAN gave his owners an exciting win at the Spa. He was bumped at the start but soon gained the lead and won off by 6 1/2 lengths. MONTE MAN was claimed out of the race by Chad Summers and Zilla Racing Stable.  He has earned over $99,000. He is far from home having been bred by Val C. Murrell at Clear Creek.

      Maggi Moss will offer this year’s GI La Troienne S. winner Big World (Custom for Carlos–Tensas Wedding Joy, by Broken Vow) at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton November Sale through the Bluewater Sales consignment. The 4-year-old filly, a five-time stakes winner, captured the 2015 GIII Tempted S. as a 2-year-old. She capped a four-race win streak with a 1 1/4-length victory in the May 5 La Troienne. On the board in all but one of 13 starts to date, Big World has won seven times for earnings of $629,190.

      “Big World has taken me on a great journey and her victory in the La Troienne was a highlight of my career as an owner,” Moss said.

      Big World’s juvenile full-sibling Gracida, a $400,000 Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream purchase by Amr Zedan, was a front-running winner of his debut at Del Mar Saturday.

      GRACIDA (r, 2, Custom for Carlos–Tensas Wedding Joy, by Broken Vow), acquired for $400,000 by Amr Zedan’s fledgling Zedan Racing Stables at the Fasig-Tipton Florida sale, made his debut a winning one with a front-running tally Saturday at Del Mar. Breaking a bit outwardly from the outside slot, the chestnut quickly shot to the front and cleared the field through a composed quarter-mile in :22.34. Turning for home with a commanding lead, he never allowed a rival to reach even terms and zipped home to score by some two lengths in :58.44. GRACIDA traveled to the West Coast following his March sale in Florida and drilled steadily at Santa Anita in recent weeks.       MGSW BIG WORLD, winner of the La Troienne G1 and the G3 Tempted S ran third in the Mari Hulman George Stakes at Indiana Downs.  She made a bid in the stretch and just came up short. BIG WORLD has a juvenile full-brother named Gracida who brought $400,000 as a 2 year old in training at Gulfstream.  She is owned by Maggi Moss and trained by Thomas M.       The wonderfully named FROLIC was second first out and won her second start to graduate going 6 furlongs at Evangeline Downs in a MSW. She broke right with the first flight and then swalled them up to head for the wire on her own and win by over 5 lengths. She is owned and was bred by Bill Langford and is co-owned by her trainer Roland Bruno. Keep an eye on this one.

Today he pressed the early pace and then took over to hit the wire in front by a neck to win his first condition allowance race also at Evangeline. He stretched out to a mile on the dirt and had to repell a late closer for the score. He is owned by Leo Savoy, was bred by Bill Langford and is trained by Rickey N. Castille.

      BIG WORLD (f, 4, Custom for Carlos–Tensas Wedding Joy, by Broken Vow), backed down to 7-1 from a 20-1 morning line quote, splashed out to the front and never looked back to get the graded stakes action at Churchill underway. Romantic Vision (Lemon Drop Kid) spiced up the exacta at 15-1 about a length behind, with Streamline (Straight Line) third. Favored Paid Up Subscriber (Candy Ride {Arg}) settled for fourth after some traffic trouble. Big World stopped the clock in 1:44.91 under very wet conditions. She annexed the 2015 GIII Tempted S. while under the care of Tony Dutrow, and is now 5-for-6 since being transferred to Tom Amoss. The $98,0000 OBSAUG yearling most recently took an Oaklawn optional claimer Mar. 30. Her full-brother brought $400,000 from Dennis O’Neill at this year’s Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale.       GSW BIG WORLD  winner of the G3 Tempted S. as a 2 year old, triumphed in a two of Louisiana-bred stakes at 3  and then scored big time in the LA Bred Premier Night Distaff S. in Feb. Delta. Off as the heavy favorite going 1 1/16 at Oaklawn in aloowance company, she pushed  the pace then moved  to the front soon after straightening for home for a 1 1/2-length win.  BIG WORLD has a juvenile full-brother named Gracida who brought $400,000 as a 2 year old in training at Gulfstream.  BIG WORLD is owned by Maggi Moss and trained by Thomas M. Amoss. Lifetime:  10-6-0-4, $428,400.

      At the Fair Ground, LUCKY BAND raced like a pro in her second start. Sprinting 5 1/2 she raced just of the pace and then came wide when it counted a scored by 1/2 a length. She made ALL her connections HAPPY in one fell swoop: LUCKY BAND is owned and was bred and aslo is trained by Peter L. Orlando. And in the pipeline, the winner has a 2-year-old full-brother named Captain Kip and a yearling full-sister named Lady Carlos. Her dam foaled another Custom for Carlos colt this spring.

      Exciting result at Fasig Tipton Gulfstream for the CUSTOM FOR CARLOS colt, The full brother to G3 SW BIG WORLD, went to Dennis O'Neill for $400,000. He was puchased for brother trainer Doug O'Neill. From the O'Neill  barn came Derby winners NYQUIST and I'LL HAVE ANOTHER to name only a couple. The pair also bought Crosscheck Carlos last year. He is owned and trained by L. Jay Cuccia and was bred by Lynne Boutte & Chris Boutte.  Only a nose behind was a second son of CUSTOM FOR CARLOS, the well named IL EST VITE. This time he just missed and like LION HEART LEGEND, he lacked racing room - watch for him next time.  IL EST VITE is owned by Earl Toups  and was bred by Clear Creek Stud.
