OUR WILD DANCER by HALF OURS wires the field for win #2

OUR WILD DANCER won his 3rd start for his original set of connections and his 4th start for his new connections -  trainer Eduardo Ramirez
and owner Red Rose Racing. The 5-year-old gelding raced all over the track but got his head in front for the win, his 2nd in a row, He sprinted 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at the Fair Grounds. In his prior win, he raced 6 furlongs on the dirt. This versatile guy has earned over $116,000.

Also sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at the Fair Grounds, was fan favorite PARTLY MOCHA who ran second. The multiple stakes-winning gelding has earned over $558,000. He races now for Michael M Hui  and is one of the wonderful older geldings that trainer Mike Maker has so much luck with - making sure they continue to enjoy the game, The 9-year-old  has the amazing record of 46 10-12-7.

CHARZEE BABY by CUSTOM FOR CARLOS notched her 2nd win at the Fair Grounds

CHARZEE BABY broke her maiden at the Fair Grounds in December of 2017. She has run back 2nd twice and wired the field today to notch her second win - also ay the Fair Grounds. The 4 year old filly is owned and was bred by John Duvieilh & Keith Hernandez and is trained by  Sam B. David, Jr.

DOUBLE STAR by STAR GUITAR adds black tye in the Pelican S

DOUBLE STAR  added to his resume with a third in the Pelican S at Delta Downs. The colt is owned Four Star Racing, bred by Thomas Edward Vinci & Bill Mayfield (LA) and trained by Robert D. Schultz. DOUBLE STAR  has 2 wins, a 2nd and 3 3rds in 8 starts and has earned over $61,000.

BLUE SUADE GUITAR takes MSW in a romp

Brittlyn homebred BLUE SUADE GUITAR hit the board in his prior 2 starts and used those starts as a springboard to graduate  by over 7 lengths in a MSW going 7 1/2 furlongs at Delta Downs, He won off as he pleased for trainer Victor Arceneaux. Keep and eye on this one!


AW SHUCKS went off the favorite based on his on the board finishes and he got the job done racing 6 furlongs at the Fair Grounds. He raced 2 or 3 wide and then cleared when it counted and went on to the wire for the score. He is owned by his breeder Mark Deckert and his trainer Ron Faucheux.

OUR SMITTY by HALF OURS makes it 2 in a row

Less than a month ago we wrote: Making his 51st start in allowance company at Delta Downs,  tough and consistent 7-year-old gelding OUR SMITTY wired the field to annex his 10th win.  In addition, he has 9 seconds and 6 thirds.  Currently trained by Karl Broberg and owned by  R D Group LLC, OUR SMITTY  has been in a number of barns and done well for many.

OUR SMITTY made his 52nd start count with a second win in a row for his current connections. He went right to the lead, relaxed there and then rallied to the wire when it counted to make nail his 11th win. He has earned over $172,000.

HALF FAST ROSE by HALF OURS wires the field for another win

Making her 23rd start, 6-year-old mare HALF FAST ROSE wired the field to secure her 7th win. She is a homebred for Earl Hernandez, John Duvieilh & Keith Hernandez and is trained by David Sam.  She raced 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf. This wonderfully consistent mare has 2 seconds and 4 thirds as well as her 7 wins and has earned over $155,000.

BITSY'S CARLOS graduates at the Fair Grounds

Already on the board in 2 of his 3 starts, BITSY'S CARLOS went off the favorite and did not let his backers down as he wired the field and won by 2 1/4 lengths.  He is a homebred for Rose C Hernandez & Earl Hernandez and is trained by Sam David.

GUITAR KING by STAR GUITAR graduates at the Fair Grounds

GUITAR KING had to go inside, overcome being checked in traffic, but got the job done going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at the Fair Grounds. He is owned by Steve D. Roe and Patricia L Roe and is trained by  Patrick Mouton. The 3-year-old gelding is trained by Warran Harang.



On the closing night card at Evangeline Downs last year first time starter EXIGENT  won a MSW  by a comfortable 5 1/2 lengths. Today he went off the favorite, stalked the early pace sprinting 5 furlongs at Delta Downs and then inhaled the field for the win. He was claimed out of the race and we wish his new connections the best of racing luck with him,

Exciting first time starter/winner for CUSTOM FOR CARLOS

Three-year-old filly SEASIDE AMOUR, a homebred for Stewart  Madison, was off a step slow but saved ground behind horses and then swung out to clear the field in time for a 1 length win. It was her first start. She raced 6 furlongs at the Fari Grounds. She is trained by Albert Stall.

Hard Knocking OUR SMITTY by HALF OURS wins his 10th

Making his 51st start in allowance company at Delta Downs,  tough and consistent 7-year-old gelding OUR SMITTY wired the field to annex his 10th win.  In addition, he has 9 seconds and 6 thirds.  Currently trained by Karl Broberg and owned by R D Group LLC, OUR SMITTY  has been in a number of barns and done well for many. 



 CUSTOM FOR CARLOS and  HALF OURS both had first time stakes winners on the LaBred Premier Night Card and STAR GUITAR had a new stakes placed filly.

MONTE MAN by CUSTOM FOR CARLOS moved through his allowance conditions winning his last 2 in a row at the Fair Grounds, Stepping up into stakes company in the LA Bred Premier Night Sprint Stakes on a rainy wet track at Delta Downs, he overcame a slightly slow break and traffic to finally get clear and win with energy. He is owned by Ivery Sisters Racing, trained by Ron Faucheux and was bred by Val C. Murrell. He has earned over $226,000.

Earlier on the card, 3-year-old gelding, Ready Prospector, also by CUSTOM FOR CARLOS, ran second in the La Bred Premier Night Prince S to up his earnings over $115,000. He is a Virginia Lazenby homebred trained by Oscar Modica.

HALF OURS also had a first-time stakes winner as OURS TO RUN relished the slop and splashed to a win in the La Bred Premier Night Matron S by 3/4 of a length. She has earned over $140,000 for owner  Colonel Thoroughbreds LLC and trainer Larry Jones. She was also off a step slow but came wide on the turn for the win. 

STAR GUITAR'S Shamrock Star edged clear to run third in the La Bred Premier Night Matron S  to add her first black type. She is trained by  W. Bret Calhoun and owned by Carl R. Moore Management LLC.

PICKNNGRINN by STAR GUITAR wires allowance field by almost 10

 PICKNNGRINN pressed the pace from inside and then drew off to an easy 5 length lead at the wire in his second star at 2 in a MSW at Remington Park. Back on his home track, he annihilated the field sprinting 5 1/2 lengths in allowance company. He again went to the lead from the inside and wired the field -  this time by almost 10 lengths,  The colt is owned by and Gerald Rich. He was bred by Jacquelyn J. Rich DVM & Gerald Rich and is trained by Steven M. Asmussen. Keep an eye on this one!

HALF A MILLION by HALF OURS wins hers 3rd

HALF A MILLION, now 5 added her 3rd win getting up in the final strides in an AOC at Delta Downs, The gray filly is ultra consistent and has only been off the board 3 time in 15 starts, She is owned by Anne Lore Scardino and trained by John Rannie Ladner and has earned them just under $100,000.

DOUBLE OURS by HALF OURS still winning at 8

Stakes placed Double Ours  has made money for many of his connections. The 8 year old gelding  is now  trained by co-owner Robertino Diodoro for owners C  Wiest, R Wiest, C Garvey, J  Pitruniak, He likes Oaklawn having won there before, Today he added win number 7 and his earnings are approaching $300,000. Going six furlongs, he circled wide and cleared the field for the win.


G1SP GIVEMEAMINIT by STAR GUITAR romps in his MSW graduation

 GIVEMEAMINIT was 2nd in his debut at Saratoga as a 2 year old and followed that with a third in a blanket finish in the G1 Hopeful S. in his second trip to the post. He made three more graded appearances and finished out his 2 year old season witha narrowly beaten runner-up finish in the  Louisiana Futurity S.  Sent off the 1-20 favorite when finally back in the maiden ranks, he rallied three wide into the lane and strolled to the lead en route to a an eight-length romping victory. He has an interesting lifetime history for a horse in a MSW - GISP, 7-1-2-1, $213,466. The colt is owned by Valene Farms LLC and was bred by Clear Creek Stud LLC (LA). He is trained by Dallas Stewart. 

TEE'S BLACK IRISH by HALF OURS graduates at the Fair Grounds

TEE'S BLACK IRISH, a 3-year-old filly owned by  Robert J. Wyres and trained by Melissa M. Wells tracked the pace just off the leader and then cleared her rival to get up for the win by a length. She raced 6 furlongs at the Fair Grounds.

2 winners for STAR GUITAR!

Already on the board once. STAR GUITARIST broke her maiden at Delta Downs racing 6 1/2 furlongs in a MSW. She is a homebred for Thomas R Peters and is trained by Fletcher Player. The just turned 4-year-old  came 3 wide and took over in the stretch. On the same card, LEGENDARY LARRY graduated sprinting 5 furlongs. He came into this race with 2 third place finishes and went off the heavy favorite. The 3 year old gelding is a homebred for Love Partnership Interests LP  and is trained by Karl  Broberg .

MSW PARTLY MOCHA by HALF OURS back in the Mike Maker barn

GOOD NEWS  for PARTLY MOCHA. Multiple Stakes Winner. now 9 year old, PARTLY MOCHA came from far back in an AOC at Saratoga last summer and timed it to perfection, winning by a head sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf.  He had been a wise claim for the Ramseys and Mike Maker a year ago at Saratoga. Regretably he was claimed out of that race. The good news is that although he did not win at the Fair Grounds today, trainer Mike Maker claimed him back for $40,000. He will race for Mike's owner Michael Hui.

MONTE MAN by CUSTOM FOR CARLOS wins his 5th and 2nd in a row

MONTE MAN, a winner at Saratoga last summer added his 5th win and second in a row back home at the Fair Grounds. He raced 6 furlongs and won by almost 4 lengths, The 5 year old gelding upped his earnings over $154,000.  MONTE MAN is owned by Ivery Sisters Racing LLC, trained by Ron Faucheux and was bred by Val C. Murrell at Clear Creek. 

BIG GIG by STAR GUITAR wins his second

AND THEY ARE RUNNING BACK! Newly turned 3-year-old gelding BIG GIG was 3rd first out, 2nd second out and the third time was the charm and he came from the clouds, wore down the field on got his nose on the wire to graduate at Delta Downs. Running back in an AOC at the Fair Grounds going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf, the Brittlyn homebred gelding came once again from off the pace andwon for the second time in a row. He is trained by Allen Landry


The Star Guitar progeny are picking up in 2018 where they left off in 2017. Having closed out 2017 with a new stakes winner in the Louisiana Futurity on New Year’s Eve, Star Guitar added another stakes win when his Testing One Two won the Take Charge Brandi Stakes at Delta Downs on Friday night. This is, to go along with Testing One Two’s win in 2017 in the Louisiana Jewel Stakes, now gives the sophomore filly a record of three wins from four starts and earnings of $150,135. A homebred for the Brittlyn Stable of Evelyn and Maurice Benoit, Testing One Two is out of the Scat Daddy dam, Yes Sir.


Additionally, Star Guitar’s Double Star was beaten a nose in the Big Drama Stakes at Delta Downs, only to be disqualified and placed third in a rough run race.

The BIG DRAMA S. at Delta Downs was well named this year as a trio of contenders drove to the wire Newly turned 3-year-old DOUBLE STAR  just missed the win by a nose, but was placed 3rd after an inquiry. Watch for this one! He is tough. DOUBLE STAR  has 2 wins, a second and a third in 6 starts, The colt is owned Four Star Racing, bred by Thomas Edward Vinci & Bill Mayfield (LA) and trained by Robert D. Schultz. 

INVENIAM VIAM by HALF OURS adds a stakes placing to her extensive laurels

5 year old mare INVENIAM VIAM made her 11h win count as she won the LOUISIANA CHAMPIONS DAY LADIES S. Today she added to her laurels running  third in the Marie G Krantz Memorial S going 1 1/16 on the turf at the Fair Grounds INVENIAM VIAM is owned by Allied Racing Stable, LLC trained by Brad H. Cox and was bred by Paul E. Mullen. She has earned $358,589 and has the amazing record of 29-11-5-6. She was foaled raised and started by Clear Creek Stud. 

CUSTOM FOR CARLOS filly TENSAS THOUGHT wins second straight

Newly turned 4-year-old filly TENSAS THOUGHT was 2nd in her first start and laid waste to the field in her second - winning by 6 and never headed. She was racing 6 furlongs on the dirt at Prairie Meadows. Running back in allowance company at the Faur Grounds, she again wired the field to make it 2 in a row She had a change of ownership and is now back in Louisiana and  owned by Kevin R. Kuta and is trained Wayne M. Catalano. The filly was bred in LA  by Curt Leake (LA). Keep an eye out for this one, She likes to WIN!

MINE YOURS AN OURS by HALF OURS wins her 5th race

MINE YOURS AN OURS sprinted 5  1/2 furlongs at Delta Downs to her 5th win - this one a SOC.  The bay 5-year-old mare is trained by Karl Bromberg and owned by  JerryT Wheeler .She was bred by Mary J. Adams and Charles Phillips. MINE YOURS AN OURS has bankrolled over $84,000.


ROCK N SAKE wins his 6th

Stakes winner of the A. L. (Red) Erwin Stakes, now 5-year-old ROCK N SAKE added his 6th win and pushed his bankroll to just under $200,000. He sprinted on the turf at the Fair Grounds and got his nose on the wire first. He is owned by Roy Investments LLC and grained buy Shane Meche. His breeders are Tom Curtis & Wayne Simpson

JACK SNIPE'S adds win number 5

SW JACK SNIPE'S sprinted to a win at the Fair Grounds to bring is lifetime record to 13-5-1-3, $231,590. Jack Snipe’s, scored his second stakes wwin atLouisiana Downs when he captured the A.L. “Red” Erwin Memorial Stakes. He also won the Louisiana Futurity last year and additionally has four stakes placings.  Owned by Jeff Drown and Gary Scherer, Jack Snipe’s is trained by Gary Scherer. 

OURS TO RUN by HALF OURS takes allowance at the Fair Grounds

OURS TO RUN, a 4-year-old filly owned by Colonel Thoroughbreds LLC and trained by  J. Larry Jones won an allowance race going 6 furlongs at the Fair Grounds. She rallied outside for the win by 4 lengths. The filly was bred by Clifford Grum. She has earned over $69,000.

IONA STAR cruised to victory in the LOUISIANA FUTURITY at the Fair Grounds. After a couple of mishaps, IONA STAR  graduated with a front-running score at Delta Downs on Nov. 21. Running in her first stakes race, the 2-year-old filly broke on top from her rail draw and dashed to the early lead then opened up for her second straight victory.  She is a Brittlyn Stable homebred trained by Justin Jeansonne.

On the same card 2-year-old colt GIVEMEAMINIT, graded stakes-placed in the G1 Hopeful at Saratoga and on the board in the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, ran second in the Louisiana Futurity. 6 furlongs is a bit short for him, but still happy for a good effort. He has earned 188,866 for owner Valene Farms and trainer Dallas Stewart. He was bred, foaled and raised by  Clear Creek Stud LLC.
